Best Of 2009: The Converse x UNDFTD Poor Man’s Weapon is the Year’s #8 Sneaker
What are the best sneakers of 2009? To answer this question, we assembled a panel of sneaker experts, including Matt Halfhill (founder of NiceKicks.com), DJ Clark Kent (God’s favorite DJ), Mayor (AF1 King), Chris Vidal (ALIFE Manager), and Wil Whitney (head coach of 21 Mercer and founder of Nom de Guerre). Last week, each expert shared their personal Top 10, and now everyone is coming together to determine the official Top 10 Sneakers of 2009. We even caught the whole debate on video.
The Converse x UNDFTD Poor Man’s Weapon is holding down the #8 spot on our top ten list because it was one of those collaborations that hit on all cylinders. Whether it was the nylon flight jacket material used on the upper of the sneakers, or the olive green colorway, it was a perfect remix of the classic Chuck Taylor. In the debate, our panel discusses the impact that UNDFTD being attached to the project had, and offers an explanation for the “Weapon” name. XXL Freshman Class 2010?
Earlier today, a screen shot was released which presumably revealed the new Freshman List for 2010. If you remember correct, last year’s Top Of The Class cover showcased acts like Curren$y, KiD CuDi, Wale, B.o.B, Blu, Cory Gunz, Mickey Factz, Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton & Ace Hood. Of course, with no details confirmed by XXL, the list was mere speculation for the time being.
We obtained a statement from XXL Magazine concerning the leaked information, to clear up any misconceptions and questions in regards to the situation.
I’m writing from XXL to let you know the email about XXL’s 2010 Freshman Class
is a fake list that did not come from our magazine.
While we are flattered about the enthusiasm and heat The Freshman Class generates,
this list did not come from XXL and was most likely created and leaked by someone in hopes of boosting their career.
We are always on the lookout for the most promising artists who do, in fact, make it into XXL.
The current issue of XXL (our double Dec/Jan 2010 issue with 50 Cent on the cover) is on stands now.
So there you have it folks. You can all breathe a little easier.
